LightCMS does not offer an email marketing signup feature with auto response. However, integrating your site with a third party email marketing services such as Mailchimp is quite simple. This integration enables you to embed a form, such as a newsletter signup form on your site. When visitors complete the form, they are automatically added to the mailing list in your email marketing account.
Let’s take a look at how we can embed a Mailchimp signup form on your LightCMS site. The first step is to log in to your Mailchimp account and create a new list. When visitors submit the form, they are added to this list.
First you create the list to which form submissions will be added. To do this, log in to your Mailchimp account and select the Lists menu. On the Lists page, click Create List. This displays a new page similar to the following that lets you create the list.
After you save the list, you next need to create the form that will be used for adding entries to the list. During this step you are given the HTML code to embed on your site. On the lists page for your newly created list, click Signup Forms.
Choose Embedded Forms, and this displays the Embedded Form Code Page. Mailchimp has several options depending on how much customization is needed. Set the options for the type of form you want to embed on your site. The preview window lets you see how the form will look. Directly below the preview, you see the HTML code to embed on your site. After you are satisfied with your form, copy the HTML code to your clipboard.
After you have the code for your form, it is now time to add the form to your site. Go to the page where you want to add the form and add a Text element. Select Settings from the text element toolbar to go to the settings for that element.
Enter a title for the text element. If you left the title on your Mailchimp form, then you may want to make sure that Display this title on the text element is unchecked.
Click the HTML button at the bottom of the text editor, paste the code from your clipboard into the text editor.
You may need to set the background of the form to transparent so that it matches your site. Locate background: in the code and change the value to transparent, so that the final code is background:transparent. Click the Design button at the bottom of the text editor and you should see your form in the editor.
Click the Save my changes button to save the form code and return to the page. You should now see your new form.
That's all there is to it. You can test your form by entering your own email address and name.
